Stellantis is expanding its small-SUV electric lineup with the Opel Frontera GRAVEL, a toughened show car that hints at what a 2027 all-electric Jeep Renegade could become. Revealed on June 2, the GRAVEL builds on the new Frontera EV platform but swaps city-slicker looks for genuine adventure kit: 7×16-inch Borbet wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain tyres, a front winch, side cargo boxes, a lattice roof rack and extra LED light bars on the carrier and bonnet for night-time trail work.
Opel’s marketing vice-president Rebecca Reinermann says the concept is meant to “push the limits” of the production Frontera, testing demand for a more daring variant that balances family duty with weekend escapades.

Power comes from Stellantis’ “Smart Car” BEV architecture and a 113-horsepower motor. While that output won’t scare sports cars, it promises ample low-speed torque for light off-roading. The standard Frontera targets more than 300 km (≈185 mi) of WLTP range, and an optional long-range pack stretches that to about 400 km (≈250 mi) on a single charge—enough for most day-to-day use and a back-country detour.

Inside, the cabin adopts Opel’s minimalist “Pure Panel” digital cockpit with dual 10-inch displays. Higher GS trims add automatic climate control and “Intelli-Seat” front chairs to keep occupants comfortable on long

Stellantis is expected to share mechanical bits among the Frontera, Fiat’s Grande Panda Manifesto and the forthcoming Jeep Renegade EV, creating an affordable, rugged electric trio. With production Fronteras due soon and the new Renegade slated for 2027, the GRAVEL concept offers an early glimpse of how emissions-free motoring and genuine trail capability can coexist in the compact-SUV segment
