Opel has revealed the Grandland Blitz AWD, its first all-electric, all-wheel-drive SUV and the latest proof that the German brand—now under Stellantis rather than GM—is racing ahead on the EV front. Wearing the new “Blitz” performance badge, the Grandland AWD builds on Opel’s pledge to offer battery-electric versions of every model at price parity with their combustion counterparts.
Powered by dual electric motors and a 73 kWh lithium-ion NMC pack, the crossover delivers a combined 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Opel pairs that muscle with slick aerodynamics (Cd 0.278) to claim a 501 km / 311 mile WLTP range—numbers that would look right at home on a next-gen Jeep Cherokee.

The chassis is tuned for both comfort and dynamism thanks to frequency-selective dampers—standard kit that automatically softens or firms up depending on road surface and driving style. Four drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, and 4WD) let drivers toggle from efficient cruising to a simulated locked-axle setup for light off-roading, with stability and traction systems re-mapped to maximise grip in 4WD mode.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl calls the Grandland AWD “a milestone for Opel,” pointing out that customers can already choose from full-EV, plug-in hybrid, and 48-volt hybrid versions of the mainstream Grandland. The AWD flagship, he says, simply adds “maximum efficiency and safety […] combined with plenty of driving fun.”

Electrek’s take: The publication notes that turning European Stellantis EVs into Jeep look-alikes via AI imagery has become a favorite pastime—because the specs line up so neatly with what American Jeep loyalists have been begging for. If Stellantis can wrap Grandland-level efficiency and performance in a Jeep badge at the right price, the next Cherokee EV could finally crack the code on mainstream electric off-roaders.
